The Battle of Crete – German Parashooters

The invasion of Crete by German troops and its subsequent occupation, during the Second World War, is generally known as the Battle of Crete.

It is considered a major event in modern warfare and lasted eleven days, 20th to 31st of May 1941. Besides Greek and allied army forces (British, New Zelanders, Australians), the German invaders faced heavy opposition by the people of Crete, who fought using any means available. This resistance is, in its self, unique and can only be compared, in military terms, to the Stalingrad epic
